Pre-enabling concrete strengthening works for the structural alteration and refurbishment of the iconic, grade II* listed, former Commonwealth Institute Building in Kensington.
Demolition of the administration building and other structural elements whilst retaining the existing roof and post tensioned concrete base structure and construction of a new two-storey building and basement.
Works consisted of the following:
Mullion infill including preparation works, drilling, reinforcement, couplers, concreting and grouting.
Primary column infill, including breakout, preparation, reinforcement, temporary and permanent drainage, temporary works, UC columns, couplers.
Rafter joint repairs, including drilling and grouting.
Valley infill, including preparation, formwork, tendons, reinforcement and concrete
Hip rafter repair, hip infill temporary works and hip infill, including preparation, roofing works, formwork, tendons, reinforcement and concrete.
Primary column to truss connection, including preparation, steelwork, grouting.
Temporary rafter restraint, including preparation/repairs, RSAs brackets, fixing packers.
Blockwork restraint, including remedial, grout infill, blockwork repairs, horizontal and vertical UBs fixing, brackets.
