Battersea Power Station Wash Towers - Project Details
Battersea Power Station Wash Towers
Masonry & Structural Strengthening works.
The works to the four the wash towers required the removal of all redundant fixtures and fixings, cleaning of external masonry using a Nebulous Spray method before carrying out repairs. Carthodic Protection was installed to mitigate further deterioration of existing steel structure.
Some existing steels were replaced and remaining steels were strengthened as required. An RC lining wall was constructed to the internal perimeter of the wash towers, which required that the existing internal masonry was cleaned before an RIW damp proofing system was applied and 300mm of insulation installed.
The roof slab was demolished with a new roof diaphragm slab installed at a higher level all the above works of which was carried out in conjunction with the chimneys being demolished. Lightening protection was also installed.
